I had recently came across an article posted by the Epoch Times mentioning a study done on mice. In the study, a nutrient discovered in dairy and meat products showed potential for killing cancer cells. As a person affected by cancer, I wanted to know more. Could fighting cancer be as simple as changing one’s diet? I didn’t think so.
The study focused on bioactive molecules found in food. It looked for specific compounds called Transvaccenic acid (TVA). TVA, according to the study, is a long-chain fatty acid found most often in grazing animals like cows and sheep. The compounds could activate immune cells in mice called CD8+T. CD8+T cells have been found to kill cancerous cells. So together, the TVA and the CD8+T formed a unique and powerful blend capable of shrinking tumors and reducing cancerous cells. Though the study is ongoing, it sounds promising.
Will we ever find a complete cure for cancer? I don’t want to sound cynical, but I don’t think so. I’m a realist. There are so many forms of cancer and so many contributing factors. I just don’t see how there could be an end all be all to the disease.
I’d love it if there could be a complete cancer cure, but to me, that would constitute a miracle. These days, we don’t see many of those.
I’m all for continued research in the field of cancer. I’m thankful we have scientists and doctors who are working hard to find ways to improve cancer care and lengthen life spans for those affected by it but I don’t intend to chug gallons of milk or eat pounds of steak in hopes of keeping cancer at bay.
I am a believer in natural healing. I think God has given us all we need in nature to combat every sickness and disease we’ve ever encountered, we just don’t quite have the knowledge to use all the elements to our benefit yet.
Maybe I’m wrong, but sometimes, when I read articles like this study, I feel like scientists are grasping at straws. Then again, I have to remind myself that science is an art. It takes experimentation, trial and error, to come to a worthwhile conclusion. With that in mind, I’ll keep my eye on this one.
Anything that can help boost a person’s immune system is valuable, it’s just a shame those poor little mice have to be the “guinea pigs.”
I think the majority of people would like to see cancer completely eradicated but then, what would Big Pharma do?
