Actress Suzanne Somers Dies 23 Years After Cancer Diagnosis

Actress Suzanne Somers, who was known for her role as Chrissy Snow on the sitcom, “Three’s Company,” died of cancer on Sunday, Oct. 15 — the day before her 77th birthday — according to her publicist, R. Couri Hay.

“Her family was gathered to celebrate her 77th birthday on October 16th. Instead, they will celebrate her extraordinary life, and want to thank her millions of fans and followers who loved her dearly,” Hay said in a statement on behalf of Somers’ family.

Somers was initially diagnosed with skin cancer when she was in her 30s, and then in 2000, she was diagnosed with breast cancer that was treated with lumpectomy and radiation. More recently, this summer, the actress announced that she was putting her acting career on hold due to another cancer diagnosis.
